Why we ask for FICA documents
The Financial Intelligence Centre Act (FICA) makes estate agents accountable institutions. We must identify and verify the people we act for, and keep records, to help prevent money laundering and the financing of crime.
In practice that means a copy of your identity document or passport and proof of your residential address that is not too old. Companies and trusts provide their registration and authority documents, and details of who stands behind them.
We may also ask where the funds for a purchase come from. These checks are done for every client, and your documents are kept secure and used only for this purpose.
